Hello! My name is Stephanie, otherwise known as The April Fool. I am a philosopher, a gnostic, a crone, a writer, an animal lover, a teacher, a student, a fool, neurodivergent (AuDHD), and—most of all—a human being on the never-ending quest for meaning, mischief, and maybe a decent night’s sleep.
Born on April 1st (yes, really), I entered this world in Northeast Ohio under the bright-eyed blaze of the Aries Sun, the smoldering mystery of a Scorpio Moon, and the sensual groundedness of a Taurus Rising. This celestial combo means I’m equal parts wild initiator, psychic swamp witch, and cozy garden witch with snacks.
My heart belongs to Venus—planet of beauty, pleasure, and divine mess-making. She’s my personal guiding star, and you’ll often find her fingerprints all over my rituals, my altars, and my playlists.
I hold degrees in anthropology, philosophy, and religious studies because I like to make things complicated and soulful on purpose. My education taught me to ask impossible questions like:
“What does it mean to be human?”
“What does it mean to live the Good life?”
“How many goddesses can dance on the head of a pin?”
“Would the Oracle of Delphi have had a Patreon?
After graduating from Youngstown State University, I followed my Fool’s leap to New Orleans from 1997–1999 to live with friends and steep in the music, magic, and mayhem of the Big Easy. In 2000, I moved to Denver, Colorado to pursue graduate studies at the University of Denver (graduating in 2005) and promptly fell in love with the mountains, the community, and the dry air that keeps my hair from frizzing (but sadly also thinned it out).
I’ve lived in Colorado ever since, and currently dwell in the city of Aurora with my partner of twenty-three years and our trickster-in-chief, Loki the dog. When I’m not writing or working magic, I’m likely in the garden talking to my daisy patch (my favorite flower, obviously), cooking up a Venusian feast, or pulling a tarot card and pretending to be surprised.
Welcome to The April Fool—may it be a space where neurodivergent mystics like you and me can wander, wonder, and weave our weird into the world.
